To increase the awareness amongst local manufacturers and producers of the importance of halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the State Department of Islamic Religion (JAIN) to strengthen the positioning and marketing of their halal products and services amongst Muslim and general consumers.
To provide a branding and promotion platform for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to position and promote their halal products and services around Malaysia and to mentor the SMEs to expand to international markets.
The Halal Industry Development Corporation Malaysia (HDC), a government agency tasked to spearhead the halal industry development of Malaysia has been successfully organising the HALFEST ASEAN annually since 2011. In HDCs quest to become a respected Global Halal Hub, we have to develop our micro, small and medium entrepreneurs in Halal sector so that they will be able to export and grow.
HDC has been tasked with this and HALFEST ASEAN is the strategic tool to assist micro, small and medium size entrepreneurs in the Halal sector to promote and market their product and services throughout Malaysia before embarking on export market especially the ASEAN region taking advantage of ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) and ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) initiatives.
